Oh the magic of waking in a tiny, a tight woven home, ready upon awakening with priorities of life’s truest virtue, simplicity. Two weeks ago I had the privilege of experiencing a tiny home at Blue Moon Rising in Cumberland, Maryland. To really grasp the beauty of what has been created at Blue Moon Rising, you must experience it for yourself and can do so through their website.
Tiny Journey Ahead
A week of traveling on the road will do you in, “inn” literally traveling across in the country. Which, in turn is only causing more of a cost in our pockets. Staying across the united states from hotel to B&b to inn is exhausting to ourselves (and sometimes our four-legged friends). As we stayed in various places, we continually checked for bed begs, ate sub-par food, stayed in used beds, and put our dog through an energy-sucking trip. However, it was a beautiful endeavor. And that’s why we will continue to do it.
But it will be in a tiny home. Across the U.S.A.. From my home state of Massachusetts, to my mother’s native roots of Tennessee, to my beautiful life in Texas, to my journeys of Colorado and beyond to California. I see myself in the Pacific Northwest of Washington, standing before massive glaciers and cool streams. I see myself in the wrapping mountains of Colorado, feeling nature’s healing powers beneath my tingling feet.
This is why I choose to fill my life with exotic experiences, a tiny life.
Ecovillages at “The Farm” in Summertown, Tennessee
“The Farm” is a spiritual community that thrives off its citizens. Each resident of the thousand-acre community has something to contribute to the community that allows to it grow/sustain itself. Recently I’ve been accepted to Naropa University in Boulder, CO for a degree in Transpersonal Ecopsychology (Transpersonal huh?! Mind, body, soul, nature connection). During my phone interview with the University, it had been suggested to me to visit “The Farm” in Summertown, Tennessee after telling her my dreams of starting a spiritual tiny home village that was a sustainable community.
Knowing More About the Tiny House Movement
A tiny house is more than just a place to rest your head at night. The tiny house movement is a life style. Supplying the individual with the basic essentials to meet their needs. A simple lifestyle allows the individual to live more freely. In a nutshell, the tiny house movement frees individuals from the chains of normal living standards by society. These normal living standards met by society are attached to excessive mortgage, interest, and utility payments. By adjusting our lifestyle to a “tiny” life, we have the capacity to decrease our environmental footprint, free ourselves from the demands of money, and free our time. Ultimately it gives us more time to find ourselves and do what makes us truly happy. The question that beckons, is, what are you willing to give up in order to life a minimalist life?
Author’s thoughts: “On this tiny build journey I’m about to embark on, I’m prepared to embrace what the tiny house movement entails. I know there will be unforeseen challenges, but that is the excitement of the journey. I’m aware that minimizing my belongings will be a troublesome task at hand, as I have many cherished items from my younger years. I’m looking for insight from other builders/dwellers of the unexpected corners of living the tiny house movement.”
