Currently we are finishing up exterior items such as installing the soffits, installing the vents in the soffits, siding the house with shingles, finishing the storage unit located on the front of the trailer, installing exterior lights, and painting the trim work. As we are wrapping up the exterior, we are making our way inside the house. The next phase of the house is building the interior of the home.
Items that need to be considered in this next phase are where exactly all of the utility systems will go. (I must note that before building the house this was decided. However, after more contemplating and reflecting, there are a couple of essentials that need to be moved around in the tiny house, including the water storage, breaker box, and grey-water system outlet.) In moments like these where things need to be moved around, I remember the words of Ella from Little Yellow Door during a workshop she held with Tumbleweed Tiny Homes, “Don’t be married to your floorplan.” This advice has served me well throughout this process, especially when considering window (re)placement.
